Prime Time Produce will pay $1.3 million for solar system

The California firm Prime Time Produce will pay $1.3 million for Sunvalley Solar Inc. to install a solar system that will provide 285 kilowatts of power, according to International Business Times.

The system will have 300 solar panels and a solar inverter, which will be purchased from a third party, reported the news source.

The business said that they are receiving federal benefits, such as $630,000 in rebates from the local utility and $393,000 in rebates from federal government program.

Sunvalley Solar said the solar system will produce about 438,000 kilowatt hours of energy annually. The peak months for solar energy generation run from May to October, when the days are longest, extending the operational period of the panels.

The project will begin construction in early 2011, according to the IBT.

There have been a number of businesses that have installed solar farms and facilities in order to use renewable energy. North Jersey Media group recently planned to install over 20,000 solar panels which will generate 4.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity. That is enough to power 600 homes. It's increasingly clear that solar panels can benefit the environment and businesses' bottom lines alike.
