Cleaning solar panels is about to be a whole lot easier

Maintaining solar panels is one of the biggest obstacles for utilizing the renewable energy source. King’s New Energy (KNE), a manufacturer specializing in the design, production and distribution of solar mounting and supporting products, will show off its new Automatic Cleaning System for solar panels at Intersolar North America 2011.

Designed to effectively remove dust, dirt, and pollutants from solar panels, KNE’s Automatic Cleaning System is a “smart self-cleaning solution for solar panels, using a patented, wireless, water and wiper-based technology.” The cleaning system can be applied to all types of solar panels.

The Automatic Cleaning System is thought to be a much more efficient method of cleaning solar panels, replacing human labor. With the click of a remote, the cleaning system can be operated. Cleaning can also be preset with the use of a digital timer.

Another cleaning system will also be unveiled at Intersolar North America 2011. Schletter Inc., a reliable partner in solar photovoltaic racking systems, will launch their PVSpin cleaning system.

What makes the PVSPin unique is its use of “water-pressure to rotate two large circular cleaning heads while spraying the modules with a clean, steady flow of water.” Martin Hausner, President of Schletter Inc., believes his product will give solar system owners greater energy payoffs.
